So, you know, I loved Berlin. It's hard to define exactly why, but I did. One thing about it is that it is really big and sprawling and hard to take in. I ran around and tried to see as much as possible in the five days I was there. I don't regret anything about how I planned my time, but now I really, really long to go back, so that I can take things in at a more leisurely pace. (One recommendation, for those thinking about visiting: don't go in the winter. October was cold enough.)
I took a lot (a lot) of photos, and I've chosen to split them into three parts (which means that my usual interiors blogging is on hiatus — sorry!). Part one is dedicated to the "old" city. And "old" is in quotes, because most everything you see in Berlin that looks old was actually bombed in WWII and since rebuilt. All the same, it allowed me to indulge in my statue fixation.
(I'm too lazy to caption, but if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer in the comments.)

Wonderful pictures I sooooooooooo want to go!
I'll be in Berlin for the first time this summer. Looking at your pics gives me a lot of ideas of projects I could create.
Thanks for the inspiration.
I knew I really wanted to go there. Sigh. Your pics are gorgeous -- looks like you had an amazing time!
Thank you everyone!
